1st FIDE Rating ,Coimbatore

R.Ashwath of Chennai won the first FIDE rated open chess tournament for the LA GROUP Trophy , held from April 27th to 3rd of May here at Jenney Club , Coimbatore.

B.Kumaran and G.K.Monisha, both of Chennai won the 20th TN State Chess Chp.,held at AST Kalyana Mandapam, Nagercoil.Former u-7 state chp Kumaran was in a devastating form and won the title with 2 rounds to spare. Monisha won the event with a round to spare, barring her loss to U. Ashwini in the 5th round. Mr.Ephrame,the organizer and Chief Arbiter had a splendid tournament , including a major scalp of an overaged boy. A 3 year ban was imposed upon the player.

Winners

Kovai Kids Chess Academy, organised their 10th district level chess tournament, sponsored by Corporation Bank for the consecutive year.The tournament had a good response with around 220 players participation.

Mr.K.G.Bhat, AGM, ZonalOffice, Corporation Bank , presided and distributed the prizes.
